100ft Luxury Sailing Yacht by Infiniti Yachts, HD Superyacht in 3D

Infiniti Yachts has just launched its unique luxury range of superyachts at the Monaco Yacht Show. The highly experienced team at Infiniti Yachts offers a new brand of ultra-high performance custom sailing yachts which target the superyacht market from 24m/82ft upwards. Quality design, innovative styling and advanced engineering are key to pitching Infiniti’s offer head to head with other luxury yacht leaders but there is an even bigger difference – Dynamic Stability Systems (DSS) technology.

DSS technology features across the range that Infiniti offers. A foil that extends to leeward enables a yacht to be stiffer, faster and less prone to pitching and motion. Effectively a yacht takes on the characteristics and stability of that of a much larger size.

Americas Cup: Team BMW Oracle Racing’s ‘wind mapping’ technology

Imagine you’re a competitive sailboat racer, about to go into the richest and most storied of all sailing races with a squillion-dollar boat and a razor-sharp crew. Now imagine somebody hands you a device that can quite literally map out the wind activity up to a kilometer out in front of you, showing wind speed, direction and turbulence – and giving you the almost superatural ability to adjust your sails and take maximal advantage of a wind pattern before you even reach it. It’s almost an unfair advantage, isn’t it? Well, this is the situation that BMW Oracle Racing’s Russell Coutts finds himself in as the team gears up to take on defending champions Alinghi in the 2010 America’s Cup.

The device is called a Racer’s Edge laser wind sensor, and it’s built around a technology base that’s being used to optimize wind power generators. We caught up with Phil Rogers, CEO of Catch the Wind, Inc, to find out more.

Yachting Developments Built “Bristolian” Wins Awards

It has been an award-winning week for Auckland based Yachting Developments.

Whilst exhibiting at this years Ft Lauderdale International Boat Show, the Yachting Developments built “Bristolian” was judged “Best Sail” 24 – 40m by the International Superyacht Society.

In addition to this, Bristolian also won the coveted Showboats International “Best Sailing Yacht Interior” award.

During the presentation ceremony at Ft Lauderdale, Yachting Developments’ Managing Director Ian Cook, described Bristolian as “An absolute team effort from Designers through to apprentices. Bristolian is a very advanced vessel and it is great to see others agree.”

Word of the Day: “Surthrival”

As we near the end of our second business week of 2009, we’ve already been inundated with all sorts of negative business press. We feel the perception of the economy is more damaging than the reality of it.

We should be reminded that some of the world’s greatest companies were started in recessions, including Burger King, FedEx, CNN, General Electric and Hewlett Packard. Pre-existing companies have also made incredible gains in years where the economy was down, including Google, PayPal and Salesforce.com.

The team is looking forward to working hard and adding value for our clients in 2009.
